The late great WC Fields certainly knew what he was talking about when he uttered this famous quote.
And certainly not both at the same time
I recently had the bright idea to photograph my kids with their father’s dog for his Christmas present. Genius right? Well, whilst I hope you agree that the end result is not too shabby…
The kids are 11 and 12 now and have a very low opinion of being photographed, so I was met with opposition from them each step of the way. From outfit selection, to grooming, to posing, every direction I gave was met with groans and eye-rolling.
And the dog? Well, actually he is very well trained (I wish I could say as much for the children!) but he cannot stay sitting upright. He just kinda slowly slides his front paws out as he gradually lowers him self to the “lay down” position. Picture me if you will, camera to eye, sliding down the wall as the dog lowers himself in every…single..shot.
Just when I thought I had everyone looking and smiling, someone (not naming any names…Floyd!) would blink, or look away, or pull a face.
So fraught as this personal shoot was, I think it was worth it just for the blooper reel. What do you think?
